Anthonys interest in human health achievement and personal development began as a keen runner at age 14.Soon this developed into a passion for swimming and cycling that led combining these sports into competing in triathlons. By age 19 an average training week was approximately 250 miles cycling 40-60 miles running and 4 miles in the pool.

Coaching and training others came naturally following courses with the Amateur Swimming association at Crystal Palace, the British Cycling federation and British Amateur Weight lifting association. East London University courses for coaches included modules in sports nutrition, endurance and sprint training, effective coaching techniques, rehabilitation exercise and sports injury therapy.

 

Following a period working in personal training and sports injury rehabilitation Anthony held a post as Nutrition Therapy Consultant in a Harley Street Clinic London before travelling to Australia. Whilst there Anthony worked with the swim team in Cairns, coaching, motivating, training and rehabilitating the squad and other athletes concerned with optimal performance.

 

In Sydney Anthony worked alongside Physiotherapists before travelling to the USA where he observed Osteopaths in Dallas and Houston before working alongside a Chiropractor in Toronto Canada.

 

On Return to the UK Anthony began the 5 year training at the London School of Osteopathy, Graduated and then was invited to lecture on the BSc Hons Program in 1996.

 

Furthermore in 1996 Anthony trained in Medical Acupuncture and in 1997 Advanced Medical Acupuncture for pain relief validated by the AACP. He undertook training at Basingstoke Hospital in ultrasound, laser and electrotherapy and attended for the outpatients clinic with Consultants in the Department of Orthopaedics at Basildon Hospital. He held membership of the National Back Pain Association and Physical Medicine Research Foundation attending regular scientific meetings.

 

In 1997 Anthony held the post of Clinic Supervisor at the LSO and later in 1999 was theme leader responsible for producing specific clinical course study material and Director of the London School of Osteopathy Outpatient Clinic. Anthonys work extended to examiner for the LSO and examining moderator for the penultimate year 4 and final year 5 students. He continues to lecture at the london school of osteopathy and has completed teaching in higher education training at Brighton university.

 

In 1999 at Nottingham University Anthony began training at MSc level in Clinical Ergonomics and undertook further CPD in foot biomechanics and advanced manipulative technique for Lumbar, Thoracic, and Cervical spine.

 

Further training in 2002  led to membership of the British Medical Acupuncture Association with additional training in head and neck myofascial pain and electroacupuncture at the Royal Marsdon Hospital London. 

 

Most recently training with the American Board of Neuro-Lingustic-Proramming resulting in NLP and Hypnosis certification. 

 

Inspired by the results of applying Integrated health care with his patients and with the encouragement of local GPs and Orthopaedic consultants Anthony opened the Carew Osteopathic clinic 6 years ago 2000 which embraced the benefits both orthodox medical and CAM therapy.

 

Current interests for Anthony now include pain management and dysfunction of the upper limb and thorax including whiplash associated disorders and RSI.  Anthony runs a rolling course for graduates, undergraduates and patients to help practitioner continued professional development in the management of a range of patient health issues.

 

Typically interventions include the best in combined therapy: from Osteopathic muscular skeletal intervention to patient specific rehabilitation exercise programs which utilise the motivational procedures from NLP to dry needle acupuncture for pain management in conjunction with the Psychological approaches of Hypnotherapy.
