Nutritional Therapy
Why see a nutrition consultant?
Nutritional deficiencies can initially result in minor ailments leaving us feeling tired, fed up and unable to exercise. An unchecked modern diet can play a role in the development of chronic disorders.
Many people believe that a “well-balanced diet” is sufficient for all our nutritional requirements, but many nutrients are lost from food before they reach the body due to modern farming, food processing and cooking methods.
Multiple factors affect the nutritional requirements of an individual. These include genetic make-up, age, medical history, exposure to pollution and the ability to digest and absorb nutrients.
How can a nutrition consultant help?
A nutrition consultant advises people on how to improve their overall health by studying what their bodies really need in terms of food, vitamins, minerals, etc.
Optimum nutrition aims to provide you with the daily balance your body needs for optimum performance. We will find the foods which will help you achieve better health and will give you advice on avoiding those which may not suit you.
We will work together to create a personal diet and supplement plan tailored to your own nutritional needs and lifestyle. The motivation and support that you will receive enables you to make those important changes to your diet.
What happens during a consultation?
Prior to your consulation you will be asked to fill in a detailed questionnaire. Symptoms, lifestyle and dietary analysis will be used to identify your own personal nutritional needs and sensitivities. Recommendations about diet and lifestyle will be made. A personal supplement programme is usually devised and a full information pack is provided with clear guidelines.
There is usually one or more follow up consultations to monitor your progress. You should however be aware that it can take up to three months before you feel the full benefit.
